November challenge card more than 1 image

Welcome back to my blog!
Great to see you again, I have been a wee bit quite the last couple weeks sorry about that. I had an injury to my shoulder and had a hard time using my arms tons, you don't really realize how much you depend on certain body parts until they don't function properly. LOL
So I'm much better and have been able to craft again so I have created this super  cute card using a couple of Whimsy images.
A couple of images cause the
challenge this month at Whimsy is more than one image.
This challenge was a little harder than it seems, to put 2 images on a card and make them compliment each other. I think I was able to accomplish this using 2 wonderful digital images from StampArt Design. The first Image is called Owl-ways thinking of you this includes the sentiment. The second image is Owl-Ways Winter. Its hard to see in the photo but I popped up the front owl sitting on the branches to give my card some dimension.
So make sure you make a creation and put it on the Challenge this month at Whimsy for a chance to win some great digital images from the Whimsy Store. Or at least hop over by clicking here to check out the wonderful creations from the digital designers.

oct 23 autumn crow

Good Morning!

It's a crisp fall morning here but the days have been pretty nice so far. Sure can't complain the days seem to warm up in the afternoon. I haven't posted in a while sorry about that, sometimes things just happen in life that make it hard to do the things that you love and have a passion for.
I truly love being able to loose myself in artistic things, cause those artistic things consume you for the good and give you a creative outlet. Your mind just focuses on what you are doing or creating. I have poured myself into that aspect of my life last couple nights so I will be sharing some of my creations a lot in the next little bit.
Here is my newest card, using a adorable image from Whimsy Stamps designer Miss Rach. This image is called Autumn Crow.
I made this card in all the fall colors and gave it a Halloween theme cause the little ones will be out trick or treating next week already.

A bit closer look at the colored image, I never did it as black as crows are but I didn't want to loose the detail in the image.

Remember to give yourself some you time today, loose yourself in a couple minutes of what brings you joy.

Snow Friends

Hi good to see you!
Just finished this cute card and thought that I would share it with you. I know its a winter image but I guess given that last week here in Alberta we had a lot of snow come down. It was crazy, for sure way to early for that silly stuff. We definitely need to have fall cause that white stuff stays around far to long anyways.
I made this card using an image from called Snow Friends from designer Kathryne at
StampArt Designs from Whimsy Stamps. This file also comes with a bonus of a sentiment file.
I colored him using copic markers and added a lot of snow flakes and the ribbon to give a whimsical look. Kind of magical like a snow fall can be.
I hope that this inspires you to loose yourself in the magic of creation.

sept 10 inspiration card

Good morning!

Well we have been getting snow already ugggghhh! Really way to early for that stuff, especially after the mountains of snow that we were blessed with last year. Do you sense a little sarcasm well you interpreted that one right. I've happened to go away for a few days and well the amounts of snow that parts of Alberta is getting is crazy. Where I am it's just a bit windy with a bit of a chill to it but no snow.  This is the time of year where the leaves are suppose to be most majestic in autumn colors and canning fruit and jams are suppose to begin. Well this year not so much..... but it made me think of this super cute image that I colored but never got around to creating a card with so... well.. here is my creation.
I used this wonderful image from Lia Stampz vintage collection called Strawberry Girl from Whimsy Stamps. I decided to follow along with the colors of the strawberries and autumn and  make it red. I also added some glossy accents to her glasses to give it that shine, also a little bit on the strawberry seeds.

Hope Aug 14

Welcome to my blog!
I created this card using a fantastic new image released at the Whimsy store created by Marika Collins called  Hope. This is a wonderful image honoring breast cancer, so I thought that the card should be bold and have a big statement and have a lot of pink. I think I have accomplished that, I think we have all been touched by someone in our life that has struggled with some form of cancer. So with this card I honor each and everyone of them.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, Momenta patterned paper, Whimsy mini lace corner doily 1 die, spellbinder cut a mat create 2A, copic markers, miscellaneous flowers, Prima leaves, Stardust Stickles by Ranger, distress ink.

Back to school challenge

Welcome to my blog!

Today is a  challenge day on the Whimsy inspires blog , the theme is back to school. So I created a card using a great image from Lia Stampz called News Girl from Whimsy Stamps.

I guess this card can be used for a lot of different themed cards like, getting a new job, telling someone some news or the one I used is back to school. She kind of looks like she could be a history teacher ready to give you some current events.
I think about going back to school and it makes me think that summer is going to turn into fall. I want summer to last a lot longer for sure. The weather here has been amazing to say the least but I guess the kids don't go back to school till the beginning of September so it's a few weeks away. The gardens are still growing and the flowers are still blooming so till school starts I have to stay in summer mode.

I hope to see you create a back to school masterpiece and enter our challenge this month to win some amazing images from Whimsy Stamps.
Here is my card.

Mothers Love July 31

Hi welcome back.
I just finished this card for a friend of mine, she asked me if I could make her a card and include the baby's name on it, Charley.  She wanted it girly....well there is not more of a girly color than pink. I instantly thought of this great image from Whimsy Stamps by designer  Crissy Armstrong called Mothers Love. This image was released a couple months ago in honor of mother's day but I thought it would make a wonderful baby card. I sure hope she likes it.

A bit closer look at the image, the hands make a heart around the babys' feet
Thank you for stopping by again to see what I have created
Hope it gets your creative juices going and you create something wonderful as well.

For Danny Happy Birthday.

This is a post of a card that I did for a really special young boy.
This young boy is 5 years old and has been diagnosed with a form of cancer called DIPG ( Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) this is an inoperable brain tumor and for his birthday he just wants people to send him cards.  His name is Danny Nickerson and he has a facebook page called Danny's Warriors.  I clicked on this page and he has the most infectious smile, I had a great big smile when I seen how happy he was with all his mail.... keep it coming!ABC action news did an piece on him and here is the link. As soon as I seen this article I picked out a suitable stamp and proceeded to make him a card. I thought that every little boy loves dragons.  I wish Danny and his family the very best and hope that his radiation treatments will give him the life that he deserves. My thoughts and prayers are with him during this time in his life. I hope that my small card can offer him a smile or a bit of happiness. I see on Facebook  that he is receiving a ton of cards... well fan mail and good wishes from well wishers.

 My dragon closer and colored.

Also who doesn't love the thought of mermaids and the ocean, that's why I think I chose the aqua color  cause its a really great ocean color. I added the pearls cause well.... they come from the ocean.

Kate.

Welcome to my blog!
I just finished up this super cute birthday card, I have it on the Whimsy blog but thought that I would share it on my blog as well. This is an image called Kate from designer Marika Collins available at the
This image file containing a JPEG and PNG version of the image, each at 300dpi resolution.

Digital files can be re sized, rotated or flipped. Use the PNG transparent background version to layer digital images.

Believe it or not digital images are wonderful and super easy to work with,  don't get me wrong I still love touching and feeling the stamp and ink. But it is so awesome to be able to re size and play with digital images.

So here is my creation, made as a girlfriend birthday card.
Who doesn't like a little retail therapy and maybe lunch or dinner on their birthday. I absolutely love to get dressed up, throw on a awesome pair of high heels and go out. I have a big weakness for a great pair of heels and look for any reason to wear some. So this image called to me, with heels and a matching dress, it fits that theme wonderfully.

A bit closer look at Kate colored with copic markers. I added some liquid pearl to her headband and some sparkle to make her pop a bit.

July challenge- Summer Time

Good Morning!
I hope all is well with you, here in Alberta the weather has been incredible. The sun has been shining and it has been hot.  Last night we went out to a local lake and went Kayaking, the lake was like glass. I paddled over to the far side of the lake and there was a group of loons floating together, so once I got close I stopped paddling and just floated into them. There was 35 loons all together some of them were fluffing their wings on there back so I'm not sure if they had some babies tucked in there or not. It was pretty amazing and they didn't seem scared at all, I know a lot of times they will dive under the water when they are scared.
I love summer, it's my favorite time of the year - there is so much to do. I have been spending a ton of time outside but how can you not when it's this nice. I have taking to walking/ jogging about 3 to 5 miles a day. It helps when I have 2 chocolate labs that encourage me to take them out.
That is why I chose this adorable image from Whimsy Stamps called Workout Flamingo by designer Miss Rach.  I know it's called Workout Flamingo but to me this image tells me to throw my i pod on with ear buds it's to get outside and talk my 2 dogs for a walk or to enjoy summer in my garden.
Here is my creation for the Summer challenge on the Whimsy Challenge blog, I hope it inspires you to enjoy summer or an activity that you enjoy outside in some hopefully great weather.

A bit of a closer look
A closer look at the flowers that I put on the corner of my card, with a few dew drops on them.
Have a fabulous day and hope to see your card on the Whimsy Challenge blog.

June 25 Catch More Fish

Hi Welcome back!

I haven't posted in a while, sorry about that. Just had a few hiccups kicking around in my life in the last little bit. LOL. I have sat down and colored some serious images in the past couple days though .... now to get them made into some inspiring cards for you to pop back in and check out. The weather has been pretty good the last few days, a bit of well needed  rain in there as well.

The card that I made is created using a wonderful image from Whimsy stamps called "Catch More Fish" from Stamp Art Design. I love this image it can be used for a number of occasions, I chose to do a birthday card.  Fathers day or a just because card would be wonderful also. I colored it with copic markers and  added  a little smudge of some pearl accents to give the fish a bit of a sheen on the top of him. As soon as I seen this fabulous image I just knew I had to go to the store to find a fly fishing hook to give the card some depth. Also the hook would act as a little gift to the receiver of the card. I just cut a foam square smaller and stuck the hook over top of the digital hook.

A closer look at the image.

June Challenge Tic-Tac-Toe

Welcome back to my blog!

On the Whimsy challenge blog we have started another new challenge, this month it's Tic- Tac- Toe. the format for the challenge is as below:

I used the line on the Tic-Tac-Toe card summer, die cut and sentiment. I made a slider card for the first time and the sentiment is inside the slider. It took me a little bit to template this card but I do really like the way it turned out.The outside is simple but I think it works and really shows off the colored image.

I used the super cute new Whimsy Stamps image called Summer Girl from designer Lia Stampz's  vintage girl collection What a great summer image, makes you want to go to the park or have some lemonade. I hope to see you create a card using the challenge format for this challenge and add it to the Whimsy challenge page for a chance to win some really fabulous digital images.
A bit closer up
The images that I stamped on the hidden piece of the slider card.

Crafty Squirrel May 22

Hi welcome back to my blog!

Today is a cooler day here with a bit of wind and some showers, a perfect day to be inside creating something.
I made this card a couple weeks ago for my husband for his birthday but never shared it with you yet, seems like a waste not to ...so here goes.  I made a vertical stair card. I have seen these type of cards on the internet but have never created one for myself. I tried to get a template but the sizes of them didn't seem to match the size of card I wanted to make. I typically make 6 x 6 cards, so when the templates never matched I sat down to create my own. I'm not going to lie it quite sometime to make it work and have all the measurements the same on the stairs but I finally got it and love the outcome of it.
I create this card using a sure cute image from Whimsy Stamps by designer Miss Rach called Crafty Squirrel, colored it with copics and used earthy colors to match  to make the card.

My card is a 6 x 6 card, the front piece is a piece of cardstock  measuring 7 5/8" wide by 5 7/8" high. From the top left corner I measured down 1" and made a vertical line( which you score), from there I made another line horizontal this time 2 " long ( which you cut with your trimmer). This is the format that I used all the way down the stairs until I was at the bottom right corner. Once I cut and scored all the stairs I then center it on the front 6 x 6 piece of my card. I hope that you understand what I am explaining. It's hard to explain a template, but if you  think of the way stairs work it does make total sense.
I think the picture helps as well, then I added pattered paper to each of the stairs so it complimented my card.
