July 25 Summer Fun

AlreadyWednesday July 25 so you know what that means time for another challenge at Whimsy.
This week it is Summer Fun.
That  makes the challenge pretty easy, you can intrepret it just about with anything summer. I chose to use this new digital stamp from Stampart Design by Kathryne from Whimsy Stamps. Click here to check out Kathryne"s blog. The digital stamp is called Little Bear Ducky.  I love these super adorable bears, they are so much fun to work with. You should try them. Maybe add your project or card to the Whimsy Challenge blog and you will have a chance to win some really great digital images. or just click here to check out all the wonderful digi stamps at the Whimsy Stamps Store. I would love to see you win some digital images. You can also  click here to jump over to the Whimsy Challenge blog to see all the talented, wonderful creations by the Whimsy DT team.
So on that note here is my card for this weeks challenge.
I had no idea what I was going to do for my card this week it just kind of came to me as I looked around my scrapbook room for stuff to put on it. It started with the black punched strip on the bottom of my card.
Then it just flowed from there, I think summer fun is having fun in the water with friends or with family. I really don't think that age matters when it comes to water fun do you?

A closer look at that cute little bear digi image all colored.

Supplies:Whimsy digi image, copic markers, Bazzill cardstock and flowers, EK border punch, Martha Stewart leaf punch, miscellaneous buttons, cheese cloth.

July 18 Challenge Punches.

July 18 already, another challenge with Whimsy.
The challenge this week is Punches and edgers.
I wanted to do something a little bit different with this image. I have a 2 in 1 punch from EK that's how I did the border on each side.
I also used a border punch from Martha Stewart to do the little dark purple piece around the Fairy. All you do is border punch a strip of paper and score it every 2/8 ths of an inch on a score board and accordion fold it. Then you just add a bit of glue on the point of each fold and I added it to the back of the image piece of paper. Really easy and it gives you a great look.
I used an image from Whimsy Stamps called Faerie Dandelion created by designer Lia Stampz.
She is so cute, very summery. I also added  dandelion pieces. You can click here to jump over to the Whimsy Challenge blog to play along or to check out the wonderful DT creations.

A closer look at my copic colored image.

For something a bit different and out of the box a picked a dandelion on my walk with my dogs and added some real pieces by gluing them with Glossy Accents. I wanted to give it a more realistic feel.

Supplies: Whimsy digital stamp Faerie Dandelion stamp, copic markers, EK 2 in 1 border punch, Martha Stewart border punch and Score board, Bazzill cardstock, Stardust stickles from Ranger, Zva pearls, ribbon.

The Challenge this week with Whimsy is Monochromatic.

It was a great blessing to be able to sneak of to my scrapbook room in my basement this week to create. The cool of my sanctuary was very welcome with the temperature outside hitting like 33 degrees Celsius that is 91.4 in Fahrenheit. It is a bit warm, but I am not complaining I'm glad we are getting a beautiful summer. Our summers are too short as it is, so I welcome the warm beautiful summer days when we get them.
I printed this super cute image from Whimsy Stamps by designer Crissy Armstrong to color. Remember the theme is monochromatic, which the dictionary meaning is:

mon·o·chro·mat·ic

[mon-uh-kroh-mat-ik, -oh-kruh-] Show IPA
adjective
1.
of or having one color.
2.
of, pertaining to, or having tones of one color in addition to the ground hue:
My last monochromatic card I did I used the color of brown. That would have been an awesome color to used for this image but, I always try to step out of the box and try something new and different to challenge my self.
So I thought I haven't tried blue before lets go with that color, I colored my base color then started shading and I really didn't like the color. It was really weird for me to color it. So I stopped coloring and went to the computer to print a different image and this same one with the intentions of coloring it brown - or just to color a different image.
As I sat down to color, I kept looking at that same image again, No I was going to make this image look great using the blues of my copic colors. Well, I really like the way it turned out. I guess walking away from it and going back or just being persistent has paid of.
I really like my blue image called Party Animal from Whimsy Stamps. You can click here to check out the Other Whimsy design team cards for this challenge - Monochromatic. Hope to see your card on the Whimsy Challenge blog for a chance to win some really wonderful digital images of your choice. If you decide not to enter I hope that you have at least been inspired to try something different and do a monochromatic card. You don't have to color an image just use the same hues of a color to make your card.
Have fun with it, you never know where it might lead you.
Here is my creation using the color blue:

This little piece in the corner of my card was made using; Whimsy Bottle Cap Die, Vines Die Set and Rubber stamp set Retro Bottle Cap Sentiments. As well as a couple EK flower punches with a gem in the middle.

This is the top left corner of my card made using Whimsy Stamps Vines Die set, a couple of Ek flower punches and Gems.

July 4 Challenge: Anything Goes
It's raining here has been for the last day, I guess we need the rain. I don't have to water any of my plants outside. I really can't complain, my daughters graduation was on the weekend and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. The sun was shining, my daughter was stunning and it was shared with wonderful family and friends. What more could you want.
I got my card finished for this week and am now working on the next one. Life is good. I hope you have wonderful things in your life that bring you joy. Stuff like family, friends things that you enjoy like making cards or crafting. I love it, it's one of my favorite things. To just go to my scrapbook room and let the creative juices flow.
On that note I hope that you have that kind of joy when you create, I'm hoping to see you stop on the Whimsy blog (click here) to check out the  Dt's wonderful creations this week. It's an creative one "anything goes". So make a creation and put it up, link it to the Whimsy blog for a chance to win some really great digital stamps from Whimsy Stamps. Hope to see your card.
Here's my card for this week, I used a super cute image from Lia Stampz called Marie from Whimsy Stamps. A super cute summer image.
I used Fancy Tags Three by spellbinder to make the framed piece around my image. I just shimmed up the one end so that it wouldn't cut through my paper. It actually worked pretty good. The Damask spellbinder I cut out three times in each a different color then pieced it all together to get a multi colored look.

A close up of the colored image , colored with copic markers.

Supplies: Marie by Lia Stampz from Whimsy, Bazzill cardstock, Copic markers, Spellbinder -Damask Motifs & Fancy Tags Three, Miscellaneous embellishments.

Have a wonderful day!
